The suffering

One day you play with your friends, laughing and happy.
Then, all at once, there is she:
the suffering, the sickness.
Without even knowing you’re catapulted into a world
that doesn’t seem yours.
You thought these things to happen only in movies.
At last you come back home: The Lord is great, what joy.
You think yourself healed, but only little after you find yourself suffering again.
You don’t succeed to believe it. You think that everything is falling apart.
Then, against expectation, in an afternoon that you’d have defined ordinary,
that you would have wasted as usual in your sadness,
you meet a humble priest, simple but wise.
Under his direction you fasten yourself newly to God; you find joy again, and hope.
You come back home, amongst family and friends, and all goes well, always for the better.
The doctors don’t speak to you about improvements;
yet you know, you laugh…
You feel like shouting at the world that you’d do anything for your Saviour
that you’re ready to suffer for the salvation of souls, to die for him.
You will have the chance to show him your love…
